5-Step Process to Detox Mold
I had been through SO many gut protocols…
For parasites, H Pylori, SIBO…. several of EACH.
I couldn’t figure it out… why were my gut issues relentless? Coming back time and time again?
Just when I’d start feeling well again… BAM… another GI setback.
The answer may surprise you.
One of the most significant threats to our health is the inadvertent exposure of environmental toxins, which can include everything from pesticides sprayed on our food to heavy metals that accumulate from various exposures.
Today, I want to talk about a hidden yet common health hazard that many overlook: mycotoxins from mold, which mostly originate from water-damaged buildings. If you haven’t caught my free guide on how I discovered and overcame mycotoxins, download it here! It’s an extremely detailed piece of free content that I should honestly charge for.
THIS was the missing piece and why I could not overcome my gut issues despite following a regimented protocol. If you’ve got chronic health issues or you’ve been through a number of gut protocols without relief, I urge you to look into mycotoxins.
Did you know that mold has been estimated to be present in 80% of the buildings standing today??
THAT’S A LOT OF BUILDINGS…
Meaning, your chances of exposure are… well, 80% if you enter buildings.
Yet, most of it is invisible to the naked eye or hiding BEHIND drywall…
Mycotoxins from mold contribute to GI issues more than people think.
They also impact energy, brain and hormonal health.
Addressing mold exposure is a vital step in reclaiming your health.
Where Mycotoxins Lurk
Mycotoxins are microscopic, toxic compounds produced by mold, which thrives in moist environments.
While most commonly associated with water damage due to leaks, broken pipes, floods, or natural disasters, mold can also be found in less obvious places where water is present.
This includes household areas like refrigerator water filters, dishwashers, ice makers, and HVAC systems.
While minute amounts of mycotoxins shouldn’t pose a health threat, they absolutely can for some individuals.
These everyday appliances might be the unsuspected hosts of mold growth, potentially affecting our health without us even knowing.
The Risks of Inhalation
The presence of mold in our environment makes inhalation of mycotoxins a significant risk.
Consider this: we take around 20,000 breaths per day, which means there are 20,000 opportunities for these toxins to enter our system each day.
Once inhaled, mycotoxins can have diverse and profound health impacts, which vary widely among individuals depending on preexisting conditions and toxic burden, genetics and overall health.
How Mycotoxins Affect Various Individuals
If an individual infected with Lyme-causing bacteria is also exposed to mold, their likelihood of developing active Lyme disease symptoms significantly increases compared to those not exposed to mold.
Furthermore, if the detoxification system is already taxed by other toxins, or is inherently less efficient due to genetic factors such as SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) like the HLA-DR gene—which can slow the excretion of biotoxins—the body may struggle to eliminate mycotoxins and other biotoxins, leading to their accumulation with limited ability for expulsion.
The Underestimated Impact of Mold Exposure
Despite its significance, the role of mold exposure in chronic health issues is often underestimated in both conventional and alternative medical practices.
Many health professionals do not understand the implications of mold illness nor how to address it.
When it comes to remediating the affected space, general contractors, insurance companies, and even mold remediation experts do not fully address the root causes or provide adequate solutions for mold issues and water damage.
This oversight can leave those affected without the necessary support or remedies.
Common Health Issues Linked to Mold
The effects of mold exposure can manifest in various ways, often underlying several chronic conditions.
Some of the most frequent health issues that may have connections to mold exposure include:
- Sinus infections and respiratory issues
- IBD (Crohn's disease and colitis) & other autoimmune disorders
- Lyme disease
- Brain fog
- Chronic fatigue
- Mitochondrial dysfunction
- Hormonal imbalances like acne, infertility, hair loss etc.
A Five-Step Process to Overcome Mold Exposure
If you suspect mold exposure, here’s a strategic approach to tackle this challenge:
1. Identify and Remediate: First and foremost, identify the source of mold. This may involve professional mold remediation to ensure that your environment is safe and free from mold contamination.
2. Testing for Mycotoxins: It's crucial to test and identify the specific mycotoxins affecting your body. This helps tailor detoxification and treatment plans effectively as various mycotoxins require different solutions. You can read more about mycotoxin testing here.
3. Detoxification Support: Utilizing the right binders and ensuring adequate fiber intake can help bind to the biotoxins and support their removal from your body. This step is critical in cleansing the mycotoxins from your system.
4. Address Nasal Passageway: Because typical mycotoxins enter the body via the nasal passageway, it’s imperative to cleanse the area with specific nasal sprays. I recommend one with xylitol and grapefruit seed extract. You can also use a navage, netti pot and nebulizer.
5. Excrete Biotoxins: YOU MUST BE POOPING in order to remove mycotoxins from your system. Regular use of an infrared sauna also can greatly assist in excreting these biotoxins through sweat, complementing the detox process and aiding recovery.
Addressing mold exposure is a vital step in reclaiming your health.
By understanding the sources, risks, and solutions related to mold and mycotoxins, you can better protect yourself and your family from this unseen assailant.
I often find that when my clients experience chronic health issues, they’ve been impacted by mold.
